Second set of helpers added to the SSW 9374 at Bena,CA..
After tying down the train on the eastward main track at Ironton, SP's CRGVC (Conrail to Geneva, Coking Coal) heads light through Provo, bound for Roper Yard to tie up for the day.
SSW 9374 leaves Bakersfield,CA. headed for the Tehachapi Mountains and the Loop while a set of Santa Fe helpers heads into town.

I remember standing in front of that SP geep and the old round house at Bakersfield,CA.....to me THIS was the Southern Pacific. My first love was the Milwaukee but my second was the SP.
SP often used sets of commuter power on weekends to haul freight in the Bay area. A pair was leading a westbound freight out of Oakland led by one of only three GP40P's that SP owned.
