A southbound BNSF Z Train rumbles past the Amtrak station in Norman. The station serves the daily Heartland Flyer that goes from OKC to Fort Worth in the morning and returns in the evening.
The BNSF locomotives that struggle up Curtis Hill match the Oklahoma red dirt pretty well. BNSF 7905 is no exception as it leads a westbound Z train up the grade out of the Cimarron River Valley.
NS 9702 leads a westbound BNSF piggyback train up Curtis Hill. The engineer had the train in notch 8 as it was approaching the steepest part of the hill.
What would be a regular freight had some excitement on it with four B40-8's and an SD40 heading for Galveston.
