Having recently returned from Amtrak service, all the SDP45 locomotives were being assigned to the commute pool allowing the retirement of the last of the FM Train Masters.

Still in its Erie-Lackawanna heritage colors but having received Conrail stenciling, CR 6688 was erroneously listed in Conrail's initial locomotive roster as an SDP45.
