I made a call to the BN coachyard in Aurora before the E9s were retired. Glad I did.
About 20 minutes out of Sparks, NV, Amtrak E9 425, an ex-UP unit, is leading #6 East out into Nevada. Crossing Donner Pass the train was led by an ex-SP FP7, which was left in Sparks.
WSOR still has the holiday spirit in January as the wreath still adorns the nose of 10A on this special.
