Some interesting power sits in CSX's Hagerstown Yard in Spring 1996.
The lineup. From left to right: CSXT 6485 (GP40-2), CSXT 2777 (GP38-2), CSXT 6437 (GP40-2), and BOMX 956365. A nice early start allowed me to get this "night" shot at 6:29AM.
A rare sight in 2006 to see three NS highhoods in a row, elephant style.
3 NS Highhoods bring a cut of cars up from Vardo Yard. Check out the WM hump signal, yard towers and yard office that still survive. SD40-2 led CSX D720 is sitting in the distance with a total o... (more)
A very rare sight to see foreign power on the CSX D720.
The usual suspects on CSX in Hagerstown.
The three types of locomotives that most often prowl the rails around Hagerstown on CSX- SD50's, GP40-2's and GP38-2's idle alongside each other almost perfectly.
Power for the D720 (a night train almost always) sits on the wye that heads to NS. The first unit, CSX 6000, the class unit of GP40-2 was cut off and put on CSX D797.
CSX power idles while mechanical department crews work on a unit in the distance.
CSX power idling on the wye for the weekend. This power will probably used to go down to "Conservit" on Sunday afternoon.
Awesome contrast of power in CSX's Hagerstown Yard.
Very nice array of power in the CSX Hagerstown Yard from WLE, some somewhat rare big GE's and a Operation Lifesaver Caboose owned by the Hagerstown Roundhouse Museum.
WLE consist backs onto one of the "cab tracks." The power will idle until the crew is rested.
HRM equipment sits on a spare track to allow for a steam engine to be removed from behind them where they usually sit. (The steam engine has since headed west a few weeks ago).
