LS&I 2501 leads an ore train into the Lower Yard in Marquette, MI in May of 1986. A cloud of brake dust surrounds the ancient ore cars due to the steep descent from Eagle Mills.

A very bad day for a Penn Central U25C- talk about smoking up the catenary! Built by GE in December 1965 for the PRR, the 6511 would survive into the Conrail era, eventually renumbered as 6811.
With storms surrounding the Eagle Mills, Michigan area, a small hole of full sun opened up for just a moment on a set of Lake Superior & Ishpeming U-boats working some non-ore traffic in the yard.... (more)
