This unit was serioulsly damaged but returned to service with no visable scars.

All five units received damage but only one had to be scraped and no crew members were seriouly injured.

Damage looks bad but shop forces were able to rebuilt unit for many more useful years.

Another shot of the damage to the lead unit on CV 490 which hit a wash out caused by a beaver dam letting go in heavy overnight rain. The crew was shaken but suffered no life threatening injuries... (more)

The coal train transfer continues toward Ohio and meets an eastbound with coal empties. I am standing beside a long steel span and the noise is fierce.

As the locomotive runs by I realize there is a long train following. N&W gets a lot of work out of their geeps.

A lone GP9 climbs out of the yard and onto the main headed to Ohio. The cabooses splicing the locomotive and train indicates a run-around move.
