Sea smoke forms off Lake Superior with the outside air temperature at -20C at Coldwell, Ontario at sunrise just before 0900. The sounds of a pair of EMD's echo in the distance as CP SD40-2's 6080 + 6045 come into view alongside a frozen Echo Lake taking the siding at the east switch of Coldwell. CPKC is operating a "clean up" work train moving storage cars before winter settles in between Chapleau and Thunder Bay, Ontario across the White River, Heron Bay, and Nipigon Subdivisions. After arriving into White River before midnight on the 8th with 31 gondolas the next order of business was grabbing 47 centerbeams out of the yard before heading west across the top of Superior for the Lakehead.
