The SOU Heritage Unit passes by the old Southern Railway Freight Depot (Mitchener Station) in Selma, NC. Built in 1855, this is the oldest surviving station in North Carolina.

The SOU Heritage Unit gives off lots of exhaust as it leads NS 349 westbound through farmlands in Clayton, NC.
