New Heritage Unit For Family Day. On October 7, 2023, NJ Transit 4210 (GP40PH-2B, Erie Railroad Heritage) was unveiled as part of the 2023 Family Day Events at the Meadows Maintenance Complex in Kearny, New Jersey in its new paint scheme. New Jersey Transit recently repainted this unit as part of its heritage program, and it was on display along with heritage units. While neither Erie nor Erie Lackawanna Railroad owned any GP40s, the paint scheme was adapted from Alco/EMD models of that era. The present day Pascack Valley and Bergen/Main/Port Jervis lines were a part of the Erie Railroad and became part of Erie Lackawanna, Conrail and later NJ DOT and NJ Transit upon its inception.
