A eurostar train-set heads south towards the Channel Tunnel with a service from London to the continent. Despite being funded largely by tax-payers, the tunnel and associated infrastructure is mainly of benefit only to the south of England. All UK services start and terminate in London, in contrast to the french side where trains run to a widening set of destinations.
