In an interesting power shuffle this technical MRF has 146 loads of taconite and 6 units (2 online) as they rumble through Fairlane. 6 units and still 15 mph below track speed. Save fuel ya know.

Ore loads catch some sun between thunderstorms.

One of three cosmetically restored Yellowstones in the area. The one residing in Two Harbors looks great in fresh grey and black. Perhaps this one could get the same treatment.

DM&IR 403 leads ore loads south towards Two Harbors.

On September 25, 1994, Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range SD9 No. 166 leads a taconite ore train toward Proctor at Zim, Minnesota, in a pacing view from parallel Highway 7.

A CN "heritage" unit leads an empty ore train upgrade out of Two Harbors bound for Minntac. Missabe 403 and SD38-2 215 are the only two Missabe painted/lettered units still on the roster. Another ... (more)

DM&IR 316 feels right at home in Two Harbors. This SD is owned by the Missabe Railroad Historical Society and used by the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.
