| After a few centimeters of fresh snow fell the skies clear up as the morning sun warms things up. CN train X31441 27 (extra freight from Symington Yard in Winnipeg, MB to MacMillan Yard in Toronto, ON) climbs over the Laurentian Divide at Hillsport, Ontario with 97 cars on the drawbar. CN ES44DC 2277 is paired with CN ES44AC 3929 operating DP 69 cars back. The headend lumber loads were picked up at the Nakina Forest Products sawmill at Exton and will head all over once over the hump at Mac Yard. Hillsport has its own forest industry history; White Otter Lake off in the distance (mid right) is part of the Pic River watershed had river drives (ending in the late 70's to move pulpwood to Lake Superior to be towed to the pulp mill in Marathon. North and east of Hillsport water flows north into James Bay. |
