"On a Flatcar, it Just Fits"
On the afternoon of July 3, 2024, New York City Transit (NYCT) work train crews check the height clearance of brand new Wabtec WAB6HYB (R255) #HL001 as it was towed into Linden Yard on a flatcar in Brooklyn, New York.
The WAB6HYB (R255), is a 675hp hybrid battery locomotive built by Wabtec Corporation (formerly GE Transportation) in Erie, Pennsylvania. These locomotives are specially designed to meet all of New York City Transit's subway standards and can operate on battery power for up to 8 hours. They will be used to power work trains throughout the system. HL001 is the second out of 25 units scheduled for delivery.
