Pump Cars at Concourse.
Concourse Yard was full of trains on Saturday, March 30, 2024, with one of the most interesting being a pump train with R65 pump car no. PC01 on the end. One of three such cars built by Kawasaki in 1989, these cars are used to drain water out of flooded tunnels. They are always seen in consists with "reach cars" ensuring the locomotives don't get into the water. On this day the pump consist also included R71 reach cars P6899 and P6835, both of which were converted from retired R17 cars.
