Remarks & Notes

Aside from the loaded ballast cars on the head end, this westbound train on the Modoc Line is virtually all empty boxcars and flatcars returning to Oregon for another load of forest products. This ASEUM is nearing Sage Hen, the highest point on the route between Wendel and Alturas. Today, this grade is a fine hiking trail.
