| West of New Orleans there is a ton of industries that are along the Mississippi River towards Baton Rouge. The KCS and CN somewhat have the hook on alot of the business on the northside of the river. The CN Baton Rouge Sub between Orleans Jct and Geismar travels thru alot of this industrial area. Here we have an empty coke train out of Convent heading back towards the Chicago area. The train passes the abandoned Almatis Premium Alumina plant near Burnside. This plant looks like its been open and closed a couple times the pass 10 years, but the Covid pandemic in 2020 closed it down this time. |
