That is the old Ormet alumina plant in Burnside. It was built ca. 1957-58 to convert bauxite (a reddish ore) into alumina (aluminum oxide, Al2O3), which Ormet then "reduced" at a facility elsewhere into aluminum. Ormet went bankrupt in 2013, and I think this facility may have had more than one owner since then.
