Just in from YPF's Refinery in Luján de Cuyo, Ferrocarril General San Martín's ALCo. RSD 16 #8468 has brought freight train number 5508 into Palmira's North Yard in the early morning of a mid-December late-Spring day. Empty oil tank cars will run east to Jose Nestor Lencinas and then south to Monte Comán in their way back to the oilfields loading point at Malargue, in the southern part of the Province of Mendoza. Haulage of oil by train vanished in the beginning of the '90's with the entrance in operation of a new oil duct between Malargue and the refinery site.
