A classic CNW consist waits to attach to a freight at Altoona, WI in June 1979. CNW 968 is on of CNW's unique SD45s featuring the gong bell, applied a bit crooked, and no dynamic brakes. The 818 is a GP30 repainted in the experimental scheme of the early 70s. 838 is a GP35, and the trailing unit is SD40-2 6804, part of their first order of SD40-2s. By the time they received the first SD40-2s in 1973 they apparently were done experimenting with the scheme found on 818.
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
