On a sunny afternoon in central Oregon, all that can be heard is the flowing Deschutes River below. This changes dramatically with the introduction of a new resonance coming from down river. Slowly-but surely-the purring of a man-made machine comes into the foreground. Over a few minutes time, the villain reveals himself. The creation, though enormous at its footstep, is dwarfed by the landscape as the sound continues to bounce off the walls of the surrounding hills. After ten minutes time, the sound will die down with the passing of this marvel, and peace and harmony will return once again to the Deschutes River Gorge.
The Oregon Trunk, the route most well known for the Deschutes Railroad War, still sees BNSF-and at times detouring UP-traffic today. This album covers all images taken along the line between Celilo and Chemult, Oregon.
