Remarks & Notes
ATSF’s Train No. 2, eastbound San Francisco Chief is nearing Dalies, N.M., and instead of turning north to Albuquerque and the Raton Pass line as most passenger trains traversed, it will continue “straight” at Dalies on the freight mainline through Belen, Clovis and Amarillo and on to Chicago. This was Aug. 8, 1970 and the train had less than 10 months to live until the advent of Amtrak the following first of May.
