Classic Santa Fe, beautiful shot! But what is the reason of the very small distance between the two rails? A meeting of two trains there should be impossible.

One of the best train photos I have ever seen. (It's funny how the track centers look to be about 10 ft apart!)

The tracks look like they are very close together but there is quite a lot of space between the two tracks. The right hand track appears to be about half the width of the left side track which indicates that the two tracks are separated by several feet. The right side track is about one or two feet lower than the left side track which tends to make you think that the two tracks are very close together.
