Danville's 2:30 PM Iron Heritage Festival excursion train to Bloomsburg and return on the North Shore Railroad, departs Danville Middle School, designated station boarding area for IHF excursions and host area for many other IHF activities. The Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission sign visible between the track and the highway highlights the reason for Danville's Iron Heritage Festival. It reads: "FIRST IRON RAILS - The first rolling mill built to make the iron T railroad rails was nearby. T rails were first rolled Oct. 8, 1845. The first 30 foot rails made on order in the U.S. were rolled here in 1859 for the Sunbury and Erie Railroad."
