Not much left of 8972. Scrappers have been carefully removing parts that can be reused, the rest will be hauled off by truck. Sad.

Running along the northern edge of the Great Dismal Swamp, this unit is starting to show it's heritage on it's nose.

CSX SD45-2 8972 sits along with GP38-2 2505 in the Kingsport Yard on a damp April evening. The 8972 has returned to home rails - she started life as a Clinchfield engine.
