Southbound coal load paused at Palmer Lake, CO while cutting off helpers before descending to Pueblo, CO

After passing through Greenland, BNSF 6132 heads south toward Palmer Lake.

Coming into Palmer Lake I was not expecting to see this, and I only had a second to jump out of the car and snap one or two quick shots.

Through the trees and across the frozen lake, BNSF 5986 can be seen passing through Palmer Lake heading south.

KCS has turned over a number of Military Trains to the UP fortunately I was able to photograph one of them seen here having just crested the grade at Palmer Lake enroute to Fort Carson.
