A slow day in Bluefield.

A handful of westbounds wait to depart the Bluefield Yard as two ES44AC pushers idle on the diesel pit.

After an all day power struggle, NS 188 has finally made it to Bluefield under the last rays of daylight.

Two SD40-2's warm up as they prepare to return to pusher service, while two trains with GE's green power idle waiting to exit the yards.

All is still in a once bustling place for the Carrier of Fuel Satisfaction. Sadly the yard at Bluefield is now a former shell of itself with a lot of the coal traffic it depended on gone.

It gives me chills watching trains here and thinking about the history of the yard.
