Out of the Iowa darkness comes C&NW 8701 with the UP 2002 trailing.
Another one of UP's all star consists throttles up just outside of Rochelle as it heads west.
The original consist of the morning, the 8646 in the middle, UP 1982 on the other end, unfortunately the 8701 got left behind.

The last 3 C&NW locomotives gather to take MPRSS out of Proviso to S. St. Paul. Now they are down to 2.
Awaiting the turn to Proviso....
One of the last two CNWs... CNW 8701 sits outside the Proviso Diesel Shop. Recently the Jenks shop touched up the CNW green, yellow safety striping, and frame stripe.
"Nice socks", cooling their heals, literally, two of the three most wanted yellow / green deisels wait for instructions.
Even "old" they look good. The CNW Dash9 & AC4400 paint scheme has got to be one of the most attractive schemes I've ever seen on a GE.
The highlight of the day.This train actually arrived in McAlester an hour early. Clouds moved in right after it left town.
"Thank you" to the crew for departing town nice & slow. The sun was out for just the right moment.
"Look Ma' ... no patch!"
The three CNWs fly up the hill just west of Sussex.
The three CNWs run south once again through Des Plaines, this time in daylight.
