A southbound Surfliner cruises along the Del Mar bluffs above the Pacific Ocean on a muggy day feeling more like the midwest than southern California.

That is the former Kings Cannery in the background. Kings Cannery was big when agriculture, not tourism, was what Orange County was known for.

One of the people in the foreground is the engineer on the run from Maricopa to El Paso - he will see a lot of night running and the final miles into El Paso with the sun in his eyes.
