EMDX SD40J 50, a Joule Battery Electric Locomotive built on the frame of an SD40-2 by Progress Rail Locomotive Inc. in Brazil, switches autoracks at Pacific Harbor Lines' Pier B Yard. The locomotive is testing, and teamed with PHL 3GS21B 31, although it sounded as if the battery-powered locomotive was doing all the work – we could hear rail nose and fans, but that was all.
Sadly, just over three years later, this experimental locomotive was scrapped. Clearly, under America's totalitarian regime in the mid-2020s, even with extreme weather events, fighting climate change is no longer a priority.
