| Leading the morning trip up the stiff grade into Blue Ridge, ex-Grand Trunk GP9R 4691 is about to pass the 'other' Murphy Jct. which marks the west end of the former L&N/SOU Murphy Branch between this exact location and Asheville, NC. The line extending to the east is still in use by the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad and Blue Ridge Southern between Nantahala, NC and Norfolk Southern's Knoxville-Asheville main. |
