Pride of the Fleet
NS 1230 emerged from the paint booth at Norfolk Southern's Juniata Shops on November 5th, 2025 in a unique red and black livery. This paint job, reminiscent of Pennsylvania Railroad's Tuscan Red, matches Norfolk Southern's Office Car fleet. 1230, along with another SD70ACe, 1231, are slated to become the dedicated power for NS's Office Car Special, which if I had to guess, will be running quite a bit more in the future given the merger with Union Pacific. If you ask me, two SD70ACes are a bit of the downgrade from the former F-units that powered the train, but nonetheless, cool to see.
