Landmark Series
A new development for Norfolk Southern in the last few months has been its "Landmark Series" locomotives. These engines are painted in a unique livery with NS black on the long hood and a color reminiscent of the PRR's Tuscan Red on the short hood to match its Office Car Special train. Each locomotive in the series is named after a city along Norfolk Southern’s network. The first two units, SD70ACe #1230 “Birmingham” and #1231 “Atlanta,” debuted on the Office Car Special in late 2025. The third unit in the series, ES44AC #8184, celebrates Altoona, the home of the Juniata Shops, where it was painted. In addition to serving as power for the OCS, Landmark Series units can also be seen in road service, with a handful more coming in the near future.
