Photographed on September 28, 1961 from the Roosevelt Avenue bridge two NYC E8's 4092 and 4095 idle at Chicago's La Salle Street Station waiting for its next assignment. The E8 4092 was experimentally painted in a solid black color scheme, the paint scheme eventually evolved into a solid gray with a white band to replace the Lightning strips. Photo by Al Holtz, from my collection.
