Bird's eye view from the opposite mountain slope to Realp DFB and MGBahn (Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn). There is much to see: On the right foreground the tracks of the Matterhorn-Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn) coming out from the 15,3 kilometer long Furka base tunnel which was opened in 1982, with the connection track to the DFB network. On the right side is the construction place for the rebuilding of the tunnel with several vehicles for this purpose. This work is done mostly during the nightly traffic break. In the station you can see the cab car and some cars of the "tunnel shuttle" train, which transports cars and their occupants through the tunnel to Oberwald in the Valais. The red locomotive is behind the bushes further richt in the background, near the station building of Realp. Further left is the station "Realp DFB" of the steam railway Furka mountain line (Dampfbahn Furka Bergstrecke). Steamlocomotive HG 3/4 # 4 is ready with train 133 on track 1 (3 blue cars). On track 2 there are newer red cars (lightweight steel) wich are used for the diesel train (which is circulating Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays). On track 3 the first 3 red cars are leaving one hour later with charter train 139 of Domo-Reisen with locomotive HG 2/3 # 6. Behind the station is visble a construction site with a yellow crane, for the new 4 track hall of the DFB, to keep the valuable wooden cars dry and protected during the winter months. In the background right are houses and the church of Realp village, an on the left the Furka pass road to Gletsch in the Valais.
