Remarks & Notes
Only 7 NW3's were built by EMD, all for the Great Northern Railway between 1939 and 1942. One of two survivors, the 179 may still working for AE Staley. This dated view shows the unit pulling interchange off the rear of two Conrail patched Alco RSD12's that are sitting on the industry lead behind the plant. The other survivor, GN 181, was painted in her original colors a few years back and is on display in front of the Whitefish, MT depot.
