Remarks & Notes |
This shot is the very east end of the Deseret Ry in western Colorado at the coal loadout for the Deserado mine. Here, DPR-1 and two other E60’s are slowly pulling 44 empty coal gondolas through the flood loader. The conveyor system visible on the right hand of the photo brings the coal directly from the mine, about 3 miles away to the loadout. When loading is done, the train will begin its 34 mile trip west into Utah to the Bonanza Power Plant to unload. The railroad has a loading/unloading loop at each end. |
