Amtrak 129, as of this date, would typically be led by a new ACS-64 "Cities Sprinter" locomotive. However, on this particular afternoon a pair of relatively clean AEM-7s are in charge, each with a pantograph up. This was not an unpleasant surprise, given the fact that one day soon railfans will be shooting the last "unmodified" Amtrak AEM-7 in service, and eventually the last AEM-7AC. The "meatballs" have served Amtrak well for the past 35+ years, but it seems their days are finally numbered. An eastbound NJ Transit Northeast Corridor local bound for New York Penn Station can be seen in the distance on track 1.
