Not content with steam and a little diesel, Mitch pans again with.. electrics! Perfect execution; how many tries did it take to nail this one? BTW, for the benefit of us beginers, did did you use a tripod?

Posted by Loyd Lowry on September 18, 2008

Absolutely stunning composition Mitch. Your pan abilities are beyond the grasp of most photographers. If a vote to change the name from 'the pan' to 'the mitch' ever comes about, count me plus one for you. Thanks for sharing!

Posted by Mark Chester Jr. on September 18, 2008

Amazing...simply amazing!

Posted by Randy Rebernick on September 18, 2008

Wow Mitch where's my Ibuprofen. I im almost speechless!!! Did i mention that my head is still spinning from trying to get eveything in focus and that you really do give me a headache posting these kids of shots! : )

Posted by David Nutter on September 18, 2008

WOW!

Posted by Ross Fotheringham on September 19, 2008

One of those images where the thumbnail doesn't do any justice to just how technically difficult this shot was. Mitch brings it to a new level again. Very cool shot.

Posted by Darren Megowan on September 19, 2008

Any shot that makes you dizzy must be good. Amazing shot Mitch!

Posted by Anthony K Small on September 19, 2008

What else is there to say, other than great photo.

Posted by Scott Markloff on September 19, 2008

What can I add to the above. Well done Mitch. I remember standing there when Amtrak flew by and its really moving. This is a very challenging shot and its done so well. Congrats on being on top of the daily hit list. Well deserved. PCA for sure.

Posted by Travis Dewitz on September 19, 2008

Posted by Rich Clark on September 26, 2008

Great zoom pan shot Mitch! So much depth of field created and getting the train to show under the awning is pefect.

Posted by Dan on September 30, 2008

I wouldnt want to tresspass on that line.

Posted by Donald Haskel on September 30, 2008

39 comments and counting. This is the kind of shot you look at and keep seing different things happening. I have never tried a zoom pan. You make it look easy. Thanks for another great one.

Posted by Rahul on October 2, 2008

Fabulous I never thought this kind of Panning was possible.

Posted by David on October 3, 2008

Amazing what you can do with a camera. At first, I thought you were in the back of a fast moving train on the other track. I guess there was a slight breeze as the train went by?

Posted by Michael F. Allen on October 9, 2008

Wow! I get back from vacation and this is the first shot I see! Amazing. I knew it was technically possible to do this, but how do you actually do it and keep the engine sharp? With the mirror up, even! Simply amazing!

Posted by J. M. Fusco on October 14, 2008

Absolutely amazing, Mitch. Could easily be used for an Amtrak promo... Just looks so... fast!

Posted by Steve Crise on October 16, 2008

Kicks a** on anything I'm seeing in Trains or R&R.

Posted by Scott Lothes on April 27, 2009

Excellent application of the pan-zoom technique; really captures the essence of the Corridor.
