A pair of SD70Ms glide east across the desert as they reach the east end of UP's Shafter Subdivision, which stretches from Elko, NV to Lake Point Junction just outside Salt Lake City.
With a hefty little train in tow the day's run heads north. They will switch some stored tankers on some tracks in the woods then head on to the junction with Norfolk Southern.
It's late in the day and the crew has gone home. The local switchers drowse away in their usual spot waiting to go back to work in the morning. This sure would be pretty in blue. Hint, hint. M... (more)
