These were later renumbered into the 2000s. I like the spark arresters.
The only one I've ever seen with this red light.
Only on CNJ & CNW were there commuter GP-7s with built-out long hood for train lighting material, along with steam generator and large tanks.
I believe this is the only one of this model I ever saw actually running.
Classic granger hermaphrodite, with an EMD SD-18 long hood & guts and the rest built by Baldwin. The sanders is clogged or some such.
Classic granger Alco. Note mixed and solid bearings, single beam headlight, and recent renumbering. You can almost heard the clattering hood door & asthmatic death rattle.
In the earlier and lesser known carbody style (my personal favorite), this old plow horse has been put out to pasture. It may be Escanaba but I'm not really sure.
Taken on one of those crazy college trips where we tried to hit as many yards as we could in about 8 days with almost no depth at all but we got a few classics.
Location is a best guess. I miss that otherworldly burbling whine of the turbo on these.
I loved the sound of these in Run 8.
Man, that was a huge bird! Nice color sense though.
Back when liquidation seemed unthinkable.
The early version of the great -2 on a great railroad. Remember the ACI label?
Nice example of one of the GP-18s built on trucks from trade in Alcos.
