After seeing John West's picture (172893) of this scene from the 1960s, I wanted to get my own shot of it. It is amazing how much as changed, from the road to the trees.

Cumbres and Toltec 484 and 487 begin to climb a grade.

Engine 484 heads out of Chama with a full head of steam leading the 487 in the middle and 488 bringing up the rear. This train is part of Chama Steam VI.

Charging after me is 488 crossing the Rio Chama on a beautiful morning.

D&RGW 488 waits in front of the depot in Chama, New Mexico. In ten minutes it will be assulting Cumbres Pass.
