Remarks & Notes
The 315 "yellowbonnet" was one of the 74 passenger F-units which had been leased to Amtrak for its trains operating on the Santa Fe. When the lease terminated, the units were converted for freight service. In the process, the locomotives lost their steam boilers, passenger gearing, and many lost their red noses, gaining yellow or blue ones. There were several variations in the way shop forces applied the nose stripe and Santa Fe emblem.
