Remarks & Notes
The old Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe passenger station in Flagstaff is an icon in the town, and is still in use for the two Amtrak passenger trains, the eastbound and westbound Southwest Chiefs, that stop here each day. Built by the Santa Fe Railway in 1925, this station is located 6,902 feet (2,104 m) above sea level – a higher elevation than the "Mile High City" of Denver. Off to the right of the station one can see the San Francisco Peaks, the highest of which, at 12,633 feet (3,851 m), is the highest point in the state of Arizona. Along with serving Amtrak passengers, this old station is also now the Flagstaff Visitor Center, and dozens of trains per day pass by each day. (Flagstaff, Arizona – November 6, 2022)
