Sitting in Western Pacific’s Middle Harbor Yard, considered the westernmost part of the WP system (because the WP’s San Francisco trackage was only accessible by ferry) is the power off, most likely, piggyback train Chicago California Vans Express (CCVX), then the hottest train on the system. This TOFC train was handed off to the WP by Rio Grande in Salt Lake City UT. This train often operated with some Union Pacific power, in this case, UP U30C 2845, teamed with a pair of WP diesels: U23B 2259 and GP35 3013. (Oakland, California – August 28, 1975)
