Remarks & Notes
Amtrak train 6, the eastbound California Zephyr, pulls into its second stop of 35 it will make in its 2,438-mile trek across much of America, originating in Emeryville CA and ending in Chicago IL. A pair of General Electric P42DC "Genesis" locomotives, AMTK 40 and 197, are the power for this train. In the distance, Southern Pacific S-12 class 0-6-0 1258, a remnant of the original builder of this railroad line, sits on display in Waterfront Park, where Ferry Street intersects with Joe DiMaggio Drive, named for the city's most famous "son".
