Remarks & Notes
Between December 1955 and April 1958, Great Northern purchased thirty-two 700 series EMD GP9s for assignment west of Havre, Montana (Lines West), where thier dynamic brakes were put to good use. Both GP9's 725 and sister unit 726, in GN's original paint scheme wait on one of the servicing tracks at Seattle's Interbay yard in February of 1961. Photo from my collection, no photographer's name listed on slide.
