Train 1460 from Arosa to Chur, pulled by "Allegra" ABe 8/12 # 3501, is crossing the 284 meter long and 62 meter high viaduct over the Plessur and the Sapüner creek at Langwies shortly after 6 PM. This impressive concrete girder bridge, the largest of the Rhaetian Railway, with a main span of 100 meter, was built from 1912 to 1914 for the then independent Chur-Arosa-Bahn, which came to the RhB in 1942. The viaduct was when built worldwide the largest concrete girder bridge, with the widest span of any railway bridges. In the background is 2604 meter high Schiesshorn.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
