Remarks & Notes
The northbound Amtrak is running on an approach signal as it meets southbound CSX intermodal train S031. The last 3 days have been a nightmare for Auto Train. After the train's two normal P40DC locomotives were bad ordered at Rocky Mount on Friday 12-21, this particular trainset has been behind the 8-ball. It would would arrive at Lorton 4 hours and 57 minutes late.

Amtrak's longest train takes passengers and their vehicles on an overnight trip between Florida and the Northeast while eliminating 850 miles of driving. It is popular with snowbirds and families.

Three north-south routes cross the Carolinas. Auto Train runs through here, too. Also, the State of North Carolina sponsors the Piedmont service and supports the Carolinian.
