Remarks & Notes
Standing guard at the E.E. Coal River Siding, the soon to be replaced C&O mast signal displays two red signals, just minutes before blacking out as a result of a power outage. The winds and lightning were quite intimidating in this particular storm, but there was very little moisture. A substantial 20-25 degree temperature drop was responsible for the storm and its power. The 2012 storm season in Appalachia has been quite harsh thus far with a recent storm leaving over a million people without power.
